James Ruppert, the founder and Senior Long Island Home Inspector of Safe Harbor Inspections, Inc. has been a Long Island home inspector for residential and commercial property for over 30 years. Jim is also a real estate investor and holds a Bachelors degree from Stony Brook University (cum laude), and 2 Associate degrees.

Prior to forming Safe Harbor Inspections Inc., Jim served as Executive Vice President of Meringoff Properties, a leading New York City commercial real estate investment and management company. In his 30 years of real estate experience, he worked for prominent firms such as Cushman Wakefield, Jones Lang LaSalle, Schroder Real Estate Associates and Merrill Lynch Realty. He has traveled the country managing the physical and financial components of portfolios consisting of various types of real estate.

Jim has performed over 5,000 residential and commercial real estate home  inspection services with the ability to bring to bear his practical experience in maintaining, managing, leasing, selling and inspecting real estate. He is a director of the New York State Association of Home Inspectors (NYSAHI), past founding President of the Long Island chapter of The National Association of Certified Home Inspectors (NACHI), past President of The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) (Long Island Chapter) and the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) (Long Island Chapter). Jim is currently on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) (Long Island chapter) and often speaks and teaches at various New York home inspection and real estate events.

Over the years, Jim has been focused on real estate management, maintenance and improvement while working closely with management and real estate agents, design professionals as well as contractors. His primary goal in being a Long Island home inspector performing an inspection is to understand and explain the existing physical components of the building being inspected with an emphasis on safety, improvement and real estate value enhancement.

Safe Harbor Inspections Inc. has created new and innovative approaches to performing a Long Island home inspection, not only in the use of technology, but all phases of the inspection process, including report delivery to its clients.
