Private Sanitary System (Cesspool Certifications)

PRIVATE SEWAGE SYSTEM CERTIFICATION FOR LONG ISLAND

In order to test a PRIVATE SEWAGE SYSTEM (Cesspool) there is a protocal. The test includes putting 75 gallons of water into the system in a 15 minute period for each bedroom. So, a 4 bedroom home would have 75 times 4 gallons (or 300 gallons) of water injected into the system over a 60 minute period. The system must be monitored during the process both in the home plumbing system and outside at the drainage field.

A report gets generated regarding the findings of the test. The test is recommended for homes older than 40 years. In addition, often banks require the test prior to approving the mortgage.

Safe Harbor Inspections provides cesspool and ceptic system certifications as an added cost to the home inspection on Long Island.
